Many of our customers will appreciate that Barry Hackett has fought against the introduction of unnecessary initiatives and protocols within the Trade and at the Farm Gate. The acid test for any new rules or regulations is “have I the resources to put the rules into practice in my business?” and “will they allow me to make more money on my farm?” If the answer to those questions is positive, then the regulations will work and give benefits to profit, sustainable food production, and the protection of the Environment, at the same time. There are now some initiatives or in some cases statutes, that will tick those boxes.
Hacketts believe,therefore, that the CFE has value and encourages its farmer customers and growers to adopt the Campaign. In addition our industry has a huge challenge, as outlined in the GHG Action Plan, to reduce by 3 M tonnes our CO2 equivalent emissions by 2020, as a step towards the overall national plan of an 80% reduction of GHG by 2050.
